Abstract: This workshop explores the fundamental properties and use of clay in early years

programs. This wonderful resource has benefits to the community of people using it such as

inclusive community gathering, earth element grounding, science and engineering pathways

and of course a celebration of the arts.

Learning outcomes:

- Explore the origin of clay and how the inclusion of this precious resource can improve

inclusive

practices

- Discuss mastery in arts practice and how revisiting experiences such as clay can improve

regulation and inquiry based practice

- Practice new techniques to get the most out of your clay experiences

- Map existing clay storage, provocations and systems to develop an audit for future core

element statement

- Share reflections around curriculum choices, intentional teaching and planning possibilities.
