I believe that professional culture is unique to each individual. Each educator sets their own standards in regard to professional culture and this is usually contextual e.g. qualifications, training, experience. I think it is important for a centre to set a strong foundation for professional culture that educators need to strive towards and maintain. I personally hold collaboration as an important aspect of professional culture as each person's individual contexts, as mentioned above, can have its benefits to being shared with others through professional discussion. For myself, I would like to improve on my own critical reflection in terms of understanding new perspectives from others and how I can implement this in my own practice.

The particular comment about professional culture being 'unique to each individual' is a such a wonderful perspective to bring to your leadership tool belt. Well done Renee. We can all come together (at Sprout ELC) from different stories and we must feel good about being able to be ourselves and live our stories...However as leaders it is our role to ensure that when all the stories come together they are working off a similar song sheet in terms of vision, pedagogy and curriculum. This is where we can do the work on maintaining the culture we want. Striking the balance between allowing your team to be themselves but also follow the procedures and policies is no mean feat! Critical reflection doesn't requires us to be 'right', it requires us to offer information on a variety of perspectives then make a firm decision on which path we take.
